About our approach
Our student-focused approach to learning is based on three core principles:
1. Laying the foundations
You and your tutor will have an informal chat prior to your first session, so they can work out what you’re finding difficult, and tailor their tutoring so that we can start from what you do know and build up your knowledge from there.
We’ll go through each topic together, right from the start, and go through all of the details that often get missed, so you see exactly where everything comes from and how it fits together, and why the method you’re learning makes sense. No more magic formulae!
You’ll not only know about what you’ve learnt, but feel like you truly understand it – because you actually do.
2. Step-by-step guidance
You’ll learn to do what works.
We’ll introduce you to simple, step-by-step methods for solving problems and performing tasks. You’ll learn how to understand and approach a problem and form a plan for how you’re going to attack it – and of course, you’ll learn all of the techniques you need to solve the problem confidently.
Whether you’re in an exam, in class or at work, you’ll have solid, reliable methods you can count on to turn the task at hand into a breeze, every time.
3. Practice
There’s only one way to get good at a subject – to do it.
So your learning won’t stop when your tutoring does – you’ll be given some targeted practice to do between sessions to hone your skills and build confidence in what you’ve learnt.
